본 연구는 아동의 삶을 고려한 조명디자인을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 아동 2명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였고, 조명과 얽힌 아동의 삶을 살피고자 그들의 공간에서 그들과 호흡하며 그들의 눈으로 보고자 노력하였다. 그 결과, 아동의 삶 속에 배치된 조명디자인은 획일적이고 정량화된 빛을 내뿜고 있었다. 즉, 자연의 빛도 공간도 아동도 고려되지 않은 일정한 인공 빛만이 감싸고 있었다. 이를 극복하기 위하여 기존에 사용하지 않았던 혹은 무관심했던 조명 기구들을 활용하여 조명디자인을 계획하였다. 그 계획 과정 속에는 아동의 생활 공간, 자연의 빛 그리고 아동의 삶이 고스란히 담기도록 하였다. 설치된 조명디자인 속 공간은 차분하고 따뜻한 분위기가 감돌았고, 아동의 놀이를 질적으로 더욱 풍요롭게 하였다. 이에 빛~공간~아동을 고려한 조명디자인 연구를 통해서 실생활에서 잘 사용하지 않는 조명기구들을 활용하는 것만으로도 충분히 가능하다는 점, 이를 통해 아동의 삶이 질적으로 변화된다는 점을 제안한다.   

Abstract
This study aimed to explore lighting designs that consider children’s lives. To this end, two children were selected as participants. To examine how their lives were intertwined with lighting, we attempted to experience their space with them and see it from their perspective. As a result, the lighting design in the children’s space was found to emit uniform and quantified light. Hence, they were enveloped in artificial light, and neither natural light, nor space, nor the children were considered. To overcome this, a lighting design was planned using lighting fixtures that had not been previously used. In the planning process, the children’s living space, natural light, and lives were considered and included. The space, with its installed lighting design, ensured a calm and warm atmosphere, and the children’s play was qualitatively enriched. Therefore, this study suggests that lighting designs that consider light, space, and children are enabled with only lighting that is not used in real life. Further, children’s lives can be qualitatively changed; and this is possible for anyone who is mindful of their environment paying attention.
